Google Finance recently announced Google Investing Indexes. It’s an index based on keyword searches of the Google engine tied to an economic activity. For instance the Auto Buyers Index graphs the search terms “car, blue book, toyota, kelly book”.

What’s funny is how pervasive Yahoo Finance is. In the Google Finance and Insurance Index, “Yahoo” is one of the search terms. In the Google Investing Index, “Yahoo Finance” is used as a search term.

Yahoo still dominates the financial aggregation portals, with Google Finance lagging quite a bit. At least Google doesn’t try to hide this fact.

A lot of my friends do not have a family doctor and they are not alone. The province introduced a new service this week to help people find family doctors. Called Health Care Connect, it’s a phone service that will use a nurse at a Community Care Access Centre to help them find a physician or nurse practitioner. The number is 1-800-445-1822.

In the past month, as a Rogers Internet customer, you’ve probably noticed that you get a search page instead of an error page when you type in an DNS that is not registered. This reminds me of the Verisign “Site Finder” practice that did a very similar thing. Verisign’s Site Finder was disabled after ICANN told them to stop.

Rogers has had this redirect since July 18th and there doesn’t seem to be an end to the practice. However, there is an alternate DNS that has been made available for people that do not want this practice to continue.

Here are the details:
