A lot of new cars now come with push-button start. This feature, usually combined with keyless start, allows the engine to turn on without the use of a key. However, the NHTSA in the USA has found that many owners do not know how to turn off the car in an emergency – for instance if there is a loss of control in the gas or brakes. The problem is that the power-down procedure differs from manufacturer to manufacturer. Some require you to press the start button again. Others require you to hold it down for 3 seconds.

If you have push-button start, have a look at your manual and figure out how to turn your car off in the event of an emergency.

With so many new users getting the iPhone 4, many might not know the “secret” to getting push gmail on the iPhone. Unfortunately, if you set up your gmail account using the standard “gmail” settings on the iPhone your email will not be pushed to you. You have to follow these instructions from Google, which make use of the “Exchange Sync” features of gmail.

Google has provided a mechanism for iPhone users to get Push Email functionality. Apple is still dragging it’s feet for allowing the iPhone to support it natively, so Google has enabled mail to be synced via the ActiveSync mechanism that is available on the iPhone.

However, there is one limitation. iPhone users that already have an ActiveSync account enabled (e.g. for work email) will not be able to use this option. This is because Apple only allows a single ActiveSync account on the iPhone. This is an Apple limitation, not Microsoft or Google.

The new version of iPhone firmware is out. Don’t upgrade if you are jailbroken and/or unlocked as this will probably lock you out until it’s cracked by the “iPhone Dev Team”. Use iTunes to get the latest update if you have a legit phone.
