Found this great cover of one of LIGHTS songs. I’m relearning the guitar (which i abandoned for many years) and I’d like to get good enough to cover a song I like as well as this guy did.

Pioneer has release version 2.0 of the firmware in their AVIC-F series of headunits (F90BT, F900BT, F700BT). The new firmware is available here and has the following improvements as documented by the AVIC forums:

  1. 1. Boot time is a lot faster, its tolerable now. I am so used to waiting the original time it comes up and im like wowa, nice. 30 seconds exactly to music from ipod and screen. 72 seconds from bootup till vr update complete. 102 Seconds from boot for Bluetooth connection and loading complete.
  2. The screens respond as fast as you touch them there is no lag now, great improved.
  3. The blue boxes are now gone from the idle no route input map screen. Amazing what a difference this makes in the viewable area. The destination ins deleted now once arrived.
  4. The screen bright max before is what 7 is now, at 10 its almost blinding! However this isn’t in effect until the unit completes boot up, you suddenly see when it reads the settings the screen comes up much brighter all of a sudden.
  5. The contact screen is useful now! It lists them by mobile/office/home now.

The LA Auto Show is where the new 370z will debut. However, ahead of the launch, Nissan has released full pictures of the new car. While the only thing that can be confirmed is a displacement of 3.7 L, other technical details that are rumored are a new 7-speed automatic transmission, overall shorter length and lighter weight.

E-Pan is part of the new flux of restaurants that are invading the existing Chinatown on Spadina. It’s modern new look is clean and very friendly to Chinatown newcomers. Gone are the plastic sheets on the tables for quick cleanup and the floors are nice and clean.

The food there is above average, but not the best. Prices are higher than the “cheap eats” places but also the incident of rat sightings are probably a lot lower at a new place such as E-Pan. I would rate it a solid 7 in both food quality and value. Not as cheap as a meal at Swatow but comparable to Lee Garden. Because it’s north of most Chinatown restaurants, it’s easier to find street parking out front.

It’s funny how at the height of the Canadian dollar, American stores paid the highest rates for labour and materials to set up a bunch of new retail precenses in Canada. In the past year alone, both Crate and Barrel and Bath and Body Works have set up new locations in the GTA. Now that the dollar has sunk, profits generated by the store probably make the breakeven point a lot longer than they expected.

West Elm is amoung the new stores. I’ve never been to one before so this was a good experience. They sell a large line of furniture ranging from bed to living to office wares. The store is littered with all sorts of accessories too. Although billed as “modern country” I find most of their offerings to be contemporary and not out of place with what you would find at the old Caban. Curiously, their offerings remind me of Urban Barn, so maybe “modern country” is the right word for it. I’m going to add them to my list of “go to” furniture stores in Toronto.

West Elm is tucked away in the Northwest part of Liberty Village.

Having a large monitor, it’s nice to choose a really good background to use as a wallpaper.  VistaKnowledge has a set of really great HD wallpapers to use with Vista (or other OS’s). They also feature Themes and Icons.

Last month, Yamaha debuted their 2009 line of home theatre receivers. The RX-Z7, RX-V3900 and RX-V1900 are this years latest receviers. The RX-Z7 slots below the RX-Z11. The 3900 and 1900 update 2008’s 3800 a

nd 1800 models, respectively.

Unfortunately, like the 1800, the 1900 still does not scale up HDMI sources to 1080p. So, I’m still going to hold off on my purchase for now. The feature is available on their RX-V3900, and I’m hoping it gets moved down to their $1000 priced receivers in the future.
