After a really frustrating call with BMW, I decided to fix a broken light bulb on my own. The service advisor at BMW Toronto was adamant that replacing the a single light bulb required the removal of my front bumper. This is even after clarifying it was the halogen daytime running light, and not the HID “bixenon” lamp.

On the Internet are some great resources for shadetree mechanics. On Bimmerpost I found the type of bulb I needed (H8 Halogen) and links to a video of someone else doing the same install. The video shows both cornering lamp and DRL replacements:

    Hey,

Just a quick question, where did you buy the replacement for the cornering light and bulb attachment? I’m looking for that color and needed a place to start. I don’t want the standard halogen light from BMW.

I only had to replace the cornering lamp bulb, and I just bought a standard halogen bulb from PartSource.

Thanks for the video. I bought a replacement H8 bulb at local parts store and was easily able to replace the Daytime Running Lamp because of your video. would have never figured it out.

On another note, Any idea why the left headlight doesn’t burn and the right one does? Both bulbs are good.
I saw an article online that some BMW’s only burn one headlight and sure enough, I swapped the little bulb in the front that your video replaces first and both of mine are good but it only burns on the passenger side. Possible setting I need to update?
