At Wired.com a hacker has blown open the “secure” technology found in the newest operating system used on iPhones. While having hacked a mobile device is not that surprising, it was surprising to note how easy it was. Easy enough that the author considers it as simple to get access to as a non-encrypted device.
While that may be true to a certain extent, a lot of effort has to be given to the existing hacking teams that have ‘jailbroke’ the iPhone – the hack involves the use of redsn0w or purple ra1n hacks to work. The problem is both hacks are so widely distributed, made user friendly, and very well documented on thousands of websites. There is literally an army of hackers attacking the iPhone to get rid of it’s Apple-enforced limitations that the side effect is that these toolkits can be used by malicious hackers to access information on devices.
It’s a hard place for Apple who wants to secure these devices so they have better acceptance in the enterprise market. However the popularity of the iPhone has made it probably the most hacked device ever.
