Well I guess given how prevalent it is, it was bound to happen to me sooner or later. Late yesterday someone logged into my Yahoo Mail account and sent a message to all the contacts in my Yahoo address book. While I don’t use that email address anymore, I do use the Yahoo address book to sync contacts when I had a Windows Mobile phone – so unfortunately, most of my current contacts got a big, fat spam email sent directly from me.
It was a direct email, not a spoofed email header which made this hack a bit more surprising. They actually logged into Yahoo Mail and sent the message. This is my conclusion since 1) the emails appear in the Sent Items folder in Yahoo Mail; and, 2) the messages were sent to all the contacts in my Yahoo Address Book, which not available any place else.
What’s more surprising is that I just changed the password on the account under a week ago. So, there must be either a network sniff that got my credentials, or some sort of spyware/virus that got it. I’m in the process of wiping out all my PC’s – even though they passed spyware and anti-virus sweeps.
Originally I was going to keep the account after changing the password and security questions, however the recent interaction with the customer care at Yahoo has changed my mind. I’ll probably abandon Yahoo altogether:

When the new Mustang came out in 2005, it shocked the North American car industry. Both Chrysler and GM scrambled to come up with a suitable market offering but were years behind Ford. Now the Mustang had it faults, but something everyone agrees on is that it’s 2005 redesign revived a dying brand, and became a symbol for Ford that they could do something right.
Now Chrysler has come up with the Challenger, and it’s most potent version – the only version available in 2008 – is the Challenger SRT8. In Canada only 500 were made and featured a 6.1L Hemi V8. An automotive journalist, Jil McIntosh reviews it and ended up purchasing one! Her review is at Canadian Driver.
Every Challenger that rolls off the line is made in Canada – up in Brampton, Ontario. Curiously, GM’s product in this category, the Chevrolet Camero, will be arriving next year and is made in Oshawa, Ontario.

Sweet Lulu has several locations in Toronto – last week we went to try the one near the financial district, right near the intersection at Bay and Adelaide. The enterance is on Temperance St. so it’s a bit hidden – not the best location to be discovered by pedestrian traffic.
Sweet Lulu has a bright fresh style, very strong on the “cute” but with a bright airy atmosphere and it’s not too crowded. In a smaller space, this design would feel more claustrophobic, but here it works. The menu is based on choosing your own rice or noodles, your sauce/broth and then garnishes. It’s pretty basic but the meals are put together quickly and efficiently, and the portions are pretty good for a fast lunch. I tried rice with green curry and it quite good, it was spicier than normal thai food which i really liked.
Overall Sweet Lulu is good for a quick lunch or dinner, but probably not a place you should take a date to.

Nikon introduced four new SLR bodies in 2008. That’s quite remarkable considering there were only three launches last year and one of them was the D40x small update. RIght now, the only model that hasn’t been updated in 2008 is the D300. Expect news on this next year – I expect some new updates to the D300 but nothing like it going to use the FX sensor or anything that earth shattering. Maybe only the addition of video capabilities like the D90.
Nikon D60 – Jan 29, 2008
Nikon D700 – Jul 1, 2008
Nikon D90 – Aug 27, 2008
Nikon D3X – Dec 1, 2008

After a series of leaks last week, Nikon just made official the new Nikon D3x – their new top-of-the-line digital SLR camera. The D3x is a D3 with a new sensor featuring a 24.5 MP full frame picture size. Full details are available at Nikon USA. Various blogs also are carrying info: DPReview and Ken Rockwell. And yes, if you have to ask, you cannot afford it ($7995 USA MSRP).
