What is Honda Canada thinking? The 2009 Honda Fit is an excellent subcompact. It improves on the previous model by making it roomier and more fuel efficient. However in the weirdest country-oriented marketing move ever, they removed the paddle shitters from the automatic versions.

Here we have a car known for it’s sporty handling and performace and Honda Canada decides to remove one of it’s coveted features. To add insult to injury the feature remains in the US versions.

    Ditto

Been waiting months to order one because the 2009 would have a driver armrest along with the paddles of course….then the paddles were dropped to save $300….Salesman in Belleville said they weren’t that popular anyway.

The only 2 fit owners I know have paddles on their 2008s and use and like them.

Guess we’ll keep our US car a little longer.

Maybe see about getting a US Fit or check out the competition more closely.

The unveiling of the honda Fit in Canada has also been a great disappointment to me. Not only is the Fit almost 20% more expensive here than in the USA but 4 important options are not available at any price. They are: paddle shifters (automatic transmission) navigation (GPS), traction control and VSA (vehicle stability assist). The latter two are lifesaving safety features. Honda is even preventing Canadians from buying South of the border by voiding the warranty when the vehicle crosses the border. Shame on Honda!!!

i didn’t realize that traction control and stability assistance was also missing! that’s very disappointing.

I fully agree with Jan Novak. Honda Canada does not treat its Canadian customers fairly by not offering the GPS, paddle shifters and VSA and traction control on their 2009 Fit. I’ve been waiting after the 2009 to come out to buy one but since these options aren’t available, I think I will look elswhere to buy a new car. It is very disapointing that these options are not available in Canada. To make matters worse, the price in the US is about $1,000 less than in Canada and all the missing options are included at that price.

    Wow.

I was disappointed when I learned that the CDN Fit would not have VSA available. Never even thought they would bother taking the paddle shifters out on Sport models. This seriously, utterly, sucks. I love the Fit, and this was part of the attraction. They’ll never get me as a buyer without the paddle shifters and VSA. Period. Wake up Honda Canada. This is poor, cheap and insulting product content planning.
