The new Nikon D700 is essentially a D300 body with the sensor from the D3. It’s smaller, lighter and cheaper than the D3 but it lacks some of the D3′s faster shutter. The D700 also includes some features not on the D3: Image Sensor cleaning (‘sensor shake’), more flexible ‘hard button’ programming, virtual horizon in Live View and different DX mode indication on the focusing screen.

With it being priced over $3000 CDN, it’s unlikely that this will become my next Nikon. I’ll probably wait for the Live-View update of the D80 (possibly called the D90) later this year.

Full frame man, full frame…where can u get a full frame DSLR for that price….so consider it a poor man’s 911 in the pro-sumer camera series.
if i were to spend this money though, i would seriously think about the D3 by adding a couple more digits into the budget…:)
Crap…. Now I have to sell my DX 2.8 glass. Eh… I will probably wait till the D3(x) (I wish). Once Sonys 22 meg full frame for $2k hits the market later this year we will see better pricing (don’t forget that Sony makes the sensors for Nikon D3′s)
yeah, i probably am not going to go to FX cameras since i would have to replace all my lenses. i don’t mind DX that much but it does make shooting with the 50mm’s a bit of a pain.
